《花木兰》 ( Mulan )

This movie will tug your heartstrings.

They had this line in the movie:
"在战场上,绝不能有感情"
You cannot have any feelings at war

But seeing that your men, each one of them dying one by one at war, pushes you further to keep on fighting... is because you have feelings for them, you want to fight, for them. And it is feelings, that gives you a glimpse of hope again.
Hatred, is a kind of feeling too.

The theme song - 木兰情, sang by Stephanie Sun

At war, you have to kill, and everyone can do it:
"你不是害怕,不是不敢,而是不愿意"
It is not that you are scared, not that you don't dare, it is that you are not willing.

The last battle with the Rourans will stir your emotion on the Wei's spirit, to die at battlefield with no fear. You are not able to do anything as your enemies are killing your people in front of you, even if they are killing your friend, you can do... nothing, because you have others, who are equally important to you to take care of.

They had no other choice, no other alternatives, no other way out... at war, or at personal level.

Mulan is a really respectable and strong, capable woman, to be able to fight for her country and stand up for her countrymen.

But she couldn't do the same for love.

木兰 (Mulan):
"你说过,要是能用你的性命去停止这场战争,你早就做了"
You said before, if you could use your life to stop this war, you would have done so.

文泰 (Wen Tai):
"要我放弃我的性命很容易,但是要我放弃我心爱的人很难"
It is easy for me to give up my life, but it is difficult for me to give up the one I love.

It will dawn upon one that some other sacrifices are worth much more than sacrificing your life.
And if things still had to happen this way to solve the problem, what was the 12 years of battle for?

《花木兰》( Mulan ) has left a deep impression on me.
The great cast is also a key which adds to the emotion in this movie. Zhao Wei is really impressive with her portrayal as Mulan. She is the right choice. She is still so pretty! And the weight of the armour she has to wear is comparable to those the guys are wearing, which is slightly lighter than the estimated 10kg or the other estimated 18kg!
Chen Kun is good with his expression of the inner emotions for his character - Wen Tai, and of course handsome =x and though Jaycee Chan plays a slightly minor role next to the two of them, his character - 小虎 (Xiao Hu) lightens the mood in the movie.

The story is is heart wrenching at some parts, and the ending will move you to tears, with a little humour sprinkled over the show, this movie is a must-watch.

OMG. I was gonna upload pictures from my camera and when I started looking for it in my bag, I realised it wasn't there! Then I was thinking, I brought it back I'm sure! Confirm + chop! Then I think again, did I take it out when I reach home? "NO~" But I still went around looking for it... after about like 5 - 10 minutes searching, I suddenly recalled 3rd bro borrowed from me when I reach home. -.-! STM. *Slap myself*

Went for a shoot in the morning with ShiR, Ying and Jov @ Fire Station.

Pretty cool and we had fun going into the vehicles for phototaking!
Oh but before that, they had an emergency call halfway during the shoot and their firemen ran and grab the gears and jump into the vehicle, everything happen within like 2 minutes an off they went!

This muffin was in courtesy of Ashley's dad, a rather humourous guy haha

The soundman Johnny was a MunTong lookalike! Then when we told him, he said someone did mistook him for MunTong before, even their names are similar please... BattTong! And uncle Richard was exclaiming agreeably with us, saying that he has always find it so but didn't manage to bring it up, then say that they look like they came out from the same casting model (一样的模型) and the whole conversation was so funny! Johnny also look like my older cousin!!

After the shoot, we were back in MCS, then Jov, Ying and I went to see Sheng Siong Show's rehearsal.

Went to the 'legendary' backstage which I've been wanting to take a look at... waha~ shiok. Mich's audio console is so complicated that lots of question marks are popping above our heads when she's explaining to us.
Their rehearsal are somewhat similar to ours as they call-out to those at the panel, then they will play the game accordingly, and when the camera has to capture the shot of the judges, someone from the crew would stand-in also... haha and it's pretty interesting.

But for a one-hour LIVE show, with 10 over mikes/clip-mikes, 3 audio consoles, props in/out, CG, VT... they only did segments rehearsal with all the adjustments ONCE. No full-dress rehearsal! Then off they go for dinner break. So ZAI! Very impressed.

Actually, I've been impressed by how the crew work with the equipment and all... it really take years of experience and learning... There's so much so much so much more for us to learn, and I like that. Everything seems so interesting and great to experience!

Heard from Mich that they have classification for the various scale of shows... like Mega shows are shows like charity shows, Countdown, Chinese New Year, International LIVE feed shows... those are even more complicated and busy.

It's such a smooth flowing process when you watch it on TV, but the amount of work behind it is tremendous. All the technical skills that the crew has is priceless. Most of them have worked 10, 20 over years, and they know their job very well. It's so different from what we learn in school.

Learning about TV studio management in school is like,
you have to mark in this 2 sentences as maybe: Cam 1 - MCU person A,
then next 2 sentence: Cam 2 - CU person B
and etc.
And at that point in time when I was learning about this marking in for which camera to take what shot of who, I was thinking, HUH?! For a few minutes of recording there's already so much work needed for the marking in on the script, what about those that goes on for an hour?!

And, the studio director would be busy giving cues to the cameraman every now and then... which all of us end up in total confusion!
Well... we are just students... so we are doing it this way. The pros do it this way:

It is when starting to work on oktoLIVE! that made me realise, no, they don't do that. Not at all! The individual cameraman would already know what shot and they should be on during the rehearsals, and the VM would automatically cut from shot to shot without specific instructions from the studio director unless instructed. The AP would do the countdown steadily. Audio technician would do the fader in/out of the music automatically. Everything is so professionally done. It takes years of experience to do that though.

*CLAPS*

It really ain't as simple as how you see on TV.

I've just completed my last assignment... of the whole of 3 years in Polytechnic. It'll be the cohort dinner later in the evening. I bet we'll all be in tears. Let's see...
Sign off @ 3.06am

Updated after The Last Day in SP.

And I was right.
We took pictures before the last lesson starts in case... you know.

You see, they are blur in like 3 out of the 4 pictures for this self-timer mode phototaking. TSK.

This was a picture video done by Ping and played during our last lecture on Wednesday... Many of us teared...

This is George Teo who taught us in Year 1, making us do performances for him as PM marks. Haha!

Some shots at or favourite Studio 19... though I still prefer it to be called DMS.

And so, we end off the NCT class with the last two individual presentations by Matthew and Wals, and both of them mentioned about this being the last class and thy will miss everyone... and Wals ended off with a picture slide of the 13-individual shots which I combined and posted in my blog post (refer here) during our previous class outing @ Pulau Ubin, followed by an 'unglam' shot of Ping. We totally laughed our heads off at that! I won't be putting up here in case Ping kills me.

Then Ping started to tear. And I tried to control myself by not looking at her... then everyone starts to feel the sad atmosphere...
and one by one, we teared.

Eh you don't see the row on the right hand side laughing at us ok, they also teared and cried!

Sad that it was our last class... together.
It lasted for about 10 minutes, sobbing + laugters at the same time because we also cannot tahan one another being so emotional HAHA. Especially Ping.

Our signature pose - The Day We Stood Still

This shot is so nice right? I positioned it and set it on self-timer mode!

An imitation of Ping's typical pose, Flo does it so well that it's like the exact replica! HAHA But Ping kept denying she does this kinda pose.

I thought it'd be another round of tearing at the formal dinner at night, but it wasn't. We were happily taking pictures with one another before and after the dinner, and even did a cohort picture together, and I heard we were the first batch to do so!

DMC 04!

Spec dip. crew and cast

Random one that everyone just squeeze in to be part of the picture!

My 'partner-in-crime' for oktoLIVE! - ok-to-LOVE/ok-to-have FUN segment!

With the various lecturers, first up Dioni (Class PTN)

Then Trudy (Taught us news writing & feature writing)

And Ms Chong (Taught us professional preparation)

And of course with the sisters-lecturers Ping & Doris!

Oh and the formal dinner etiquette. So many rules to follow that it's like, omg, just bring me to the coffeeshop to eat ok. =x And we tried to practice it that we are so amused by one another with the formalities!

I will miss the days in SP DMC... :)

Packed week

Hi~ Sorry all.
I think I've never tried not updating my blog for a week...
It's been a hectic week with all the project submission deadlines coming up!
It's not like I've completed mine that I'm here blogging... but yah, I'm taking a break whenever the computer is jamming up or just maximising the time as I'm processing how I should go about doing it.

But no worries. 3 more days and it'll be over!
And yes... school will be officially over.
Everyone will start their internship... just like how we've gone through ours for 2 months.

Oh, and Mum has been in Aussie for 2 months too.
Though I miss her... sometimes I just feel that, probably it's good that she's in Aussie since I don't have much time to accompany her too, and at least she doesn't have to see that I'm home late, doing stuff and all... because she will nag at me (HAHA) But I know she meant well. And I feel guilty for not being able to spend much time with Dad and my friends too... I guess this must have been how Mum and Dad felt when they both have to work and leaving me alone at home when I was younger.
And I think, that's practically the situation for most families in Singapore.

Oh well, that aside,
I can't believe that 3 years of education in Polytechnic is ending soon... in 3 days time. It's fast, fast, fast. What can I say?

These were pictures taken after the Career Talk last Thursday.
Photos in courtesy of SinKai.

Though dreading how project deadlines and exams have been driving us to a corner... I still enjoy Poly life, which is probably why time seems to pass so fast... because it is always so when you are enjoying it.

Oh, and one thing I must mention is that, work has been pretty fine, and it's really great that they have been very kind and understanding towards the committment we have for our last couple of weeks in school... I'm really appreciative and touched about it. Thank you C, Lawr, LayH, XinY, Kalai!

Speaking of Kalai, we were invited to her wedding last Saturday!

It's my first time, ok maybe all of our first time attending an Indian wedding! Though we don't really know what was going on... haha but we just follow suit with what they do to give blessings to the couple.

The food were yummy!!

It must have been a real tiring process as the bride and groom haven't rested with the ceremony and all the customs going on for more than 3 hours! They have a lot of relatives... friends going up to them for well wishes...
Kalai's movements seemed restrained with all the accessories on her head, and when she saw us she went "EH!! HELLO!" with her head in a fixed position... then goes on raving about "HEY YESTERDAY'S OKTOLIVE WAS GOOD!!" with an elaborate expression. HAHA

Last Sunday was a celebration for my cousin YiJian's one-year-old birthday!

He is so cute! HAHA

Reminds me of my little nephew XiaoZhu... and recently going through some pictures in my camera, I saw this video of him, playing with a 'worm-like' toy, and he was scared but still wants to touch it... then laughs and fell on the floor. SO CUTE!

Till next time! Check back again! comment (0)
