After watching Destination Most Wanted yesterday leaves me a lot of after thoughts...
If Tony Leong and Carina Lau didn't had their wedding at Bhutan, I guess most of us have never heard of it before...
And through the programme, tens of thousands of people learnt more about Bhutan...
Situated between China and India, and within the Himalaya Mountains, only 8000 tourists are allowed in their country each year, and they have to be selected! Surprised?
They don't have traffic lights, only human 'operated' ones.

They started environmental conservation since 30 years ago, and schools have their regular clean up around the school area everyday (which here, we have the school attendants to do so, or we make it a CIP - Community Involvement Programme, which is compulsary because we have to reach a certain no. of hours of CIP each year)
The king of the country puts GNH (Gross National Happiness) above GNP (Gross National Product)
Their buildings are not taller than 5-storeys, and all have carvings of the tradional cultural symbols, which makes it unidentifiable for anyone to know whether this or that household is rich or poor. It sees the equality in all.

A very unique country of very special qualities. They are not very much catching up with the technology development, they don't see the need to. But they are happy as the way it is.
I wonder if they even have crimes committed in their country, since money is secondary to them... what could they be asking more for?
Another puzzling thing is, they are a Buddhist country, even fishing is illegal in their country, but they are consuming meat (although other people do the slaughter for them), and they eat beef! (???)
Looking back at our own home ground, it depends from what point of view you are looking at.
If you are comparing against other countries, of course we have our merits and demerits. As the saying goes 人比人气死人 (competition is never-ending)... and 比上不足比下有余 (we may not be the top, but we are above some)...
But if you are just looking at our country itself, like how the Bhutanese do, we do have our own plus points. 知足常乐 (Be contented).

Anyway, I do hope I have the chance to be among the 8000/year to enter their country some day... to see and experience myself, the beauty and uniqueness of their country.

Sikkhim somehow reminds me of Singapore, many of their younger generation who are educated has moved on to the cities or other countries in pursuit for a better job, for better lives. Many also don't speak their own language anymore, they speak Nepalese or English.
Singapore - many are migrating, and Chinese don't speak, or you can say, can't speak Mandarin anymore, they speak English.
Well, what do you think?

Here's the first episode of the show!
