Story:
Zihua and Ah Hui are two long time friends. They suspect that their wives are cheating on them. In order to allay their suspicions, they decide to "test" their wives by having the other write a love letter to the other's wife, to see if she will respond.
But as they get caught up in their ploy, they start to ignore their own wives. Subsequently, their lonely wives also start to respond to the love letters that they received.
One day, Zihua's wife writes back to Ah Hui and proposes a meeting in a love hotel...
----------------------------------------------
It's a local film directed and written by Han Yew Kwang (韩耀光), the same guy behind the story of Folks Jump Over The Wall (飞越佛跳墙)!
And just to name some of his works, which some that you should have heard of are:
Right Frequency (播音人), this should ring a bell if the title doesn't sound familiar - "Wo shi Chen Mei Guang guang guang guang~"
Don't Worry, Be Happy (敢敢做个开心人)
人生导火线
等一个晴天 etc.
Was very attracted to catch this film when I read about it in the papers, and this film has won 3 awards overseas! Then our school organised for us to go watch it, and so I grabbed the chance!

We passed by this flight of stairs while we thought we were on our way to Sinema Old School, and commented: "Wa... this stairs very nice ar..."
and continued on.
When we couldn't find Sinema Old School, we called up to ask the lecturer where it was, and he pointed out to the flight of stairs which will lead us to the place.
(Top viewing down, when we were going down)
It was the longest direct-route of stairs we ever seen.
136 steps in all.
And so we hike our way up...

And here it is!

This was us, ready for the show!

And this is taken with the director.
The film was very interesting! It turned out to be not what I had expected it to be like. The camera angle approach was very unique, especially at the 4-person quarrelling scene. It was actually a space constraint area that they had to work in, but they managed to work within constraints to take the 4 angles of the 4 characters, and the editing dishes out a very fresh point of view.
There was a Q & A session with the director after the screening, and when I asked about that scene, the director said they took one whole day to film that, which was the most tedious scene. We all could see that, and of course that effort paid off because we were very impressed!
It only took him 11 days to film everything, which to us was such an amazing speed. Haha.
His take on humor is out-of-the-box and is the funny-funny type, not the not funny-funny type. Yeah, you get what I mean?
A very good scriptwriter, imaginative and creative. All the experience with writing for TV shows help I guess. A potential director rising.
It simply shines some light of hope to see such good films being produced by the local film makers.
Oh and there's sale of all local films DVD there! And Gone Shopping was sold out!
