I love the themesong!
I've been watching Vampire Expert II (produced in 1996) on DVD for the past few weeks with my 3rd bro, and finally yesterday we've finished watching all the 50 episodes, with 6 parts to it - 鬼太后，飞降勾魂，飞蛾扑火，戏班冤魂，灵童转世 & 大魔神.
Every part is so exciting and captivating! Let aside the post-production of special effects done to it, it was the storyline - which revolves mainly around the Tao powers and skills, that was the success!
The story is just like the skeleton of the production, and the production crew are the flesh & blood which shape it all up!
Just this theme of Taoism allowed the production to be carried out in numerous movies since the 80s, and even 2 tv series!
And of course, the actors & actresses are the souls of the show which brings it to life!
The series 2 that I've watched was by 林正英，商天娥，林文龙，孟海，文颂娴，伊天照.
The character - 黑玫瑰 (black rose) by 商天娥 with the combination of 毛小方 (Mao Xiao Fang) by Lam Ching Ying who is always expression-less was very lively and funny... He is more scared of woman than ghosts HAHAHA
After receiving great response from the 2 TV series of Vampire Expert, ATV anticipated and was going for the production of the 3rd series in 1997, unfortunately, at that point of time Lam Ching Ying was diagnosed with Liver Cancer, due to which most believed that it could be him been drinking in small amount in the long term...
Lam Ching Ying's image as the taoist was so engraved in the mind and heart of the audience that the Vampire Expert series was not continued after he had passed on in the very same year, no one could replace his portrayal as the Taoist. But it had led on to other vampire-related shows such as 我和僵尸有个约会 (My Date With The Vampire) & 大头绿衣斗僵尸.
I still remember myself as a child at that time with my Dad reading the newspaper on the bus saying that the person who acted as 僵尸道长 had passed away... That time, I only knew the person but don't have the impression of myself watching the show...
Now that I've recalled... It's such a pity that Lam Ching Ying is not around anymore.
As much as the audience would love to see the continuation of the successful TV series, there wouldn't be the chance anymore. As he had been in the movie industry all the while before ATV approached him, Vampire Expert was the only TV series that he had worked on.
Could only reminisce through his late works...
