Date: 24 July 07, Tuesday
Time: 8pm - 11pm
Venue: Vivo City GV
It was pretty populated, many people crowding around the place where the producers, the casts, director will go on stage and talk about their experience in filming Gone Shopping.
All halls (12) were showing Gone Shopping, and many audiences too. Some had went for the 7pm slot due to their purchase of tickets online in which the amount is donated to The Substation.
Saw artistes like Lee Teng, Pornsak, Jiang Cheng Xi (with gf), Ben (with wife), Lin Cui Fang, Wu Luo Yi, Patricia Mok... didn't know if I miss out any, besides the casts - Kym, Adrian Pang and Chen Shu Cheng. Was sitting beside the auntie who came out for the very first scene in the movie speaking cantonese. She enjoyed it pretty much ^^
The movie was rather in depth (is that what you call for 有深度?) as you need to be observant and be able to analyse what is happening to the 3 characters in the show, and I realise that I didn't manage to see some parts which was related to what happened in the end.
Its 3 stories happening together to different people and they are not linked at all.
Kym is the main lead - acting as Clara Wong, the 40-year-old 'tai-tai' leads a life of emptiness... and the story on her part is sad.
Though it was a story with depth and needs more thinking, I feel that Kym's acting is good! Her facial expressions really speaks a lot about the feeling and she brought out the soul of the character. Ya, I really feel that Kym portrayed the character - Clara Wong, in a very distinctive manner, and she did a great job.
Its really unlike Kym to be in such a character because we have never seen her so, we had been seeing her as bubbly, funny and crazy in variety shows. My brother's friends commented that: "Wow... Kym can actually act very well!" Well, Kym has succeeded in this breakthrough role in her very first movie.
Yeah, Kym should venture into acting sometimes... I do wish to see her in dramas, movies etc.
She can be serious, most importantly, not only can she host, she can act too!
Anyway I felt that Adrian's appearance doesn't seem to be a 'guest appearance', seems more like a supporting character.
The movie is meaningful but needs more observation, analysation and interpretation skills 'cos its quite 'Chim' for people of our age (17 - 18). It is also something different from the local media industry, this is an artistic kind of movie which you need to be more appreciative. A good approach in venturing into this area where it is rarely seen in local movies.
Movies are not only entertainment and business, it is also an art.
But the publicity for Gone Shopping is very little... such as on TV, newspapers... etc.
By the way, I've seen the movie poster pasted outside the staff room at SP business block (T19 - 22).
